What to do
In life, in a year, in a minute, in a second, we are constantly looking ahead as humans. We obsess over the destinantion while ignoring the journey. We are told to “Enjoy the journey, it’s not about the destination”. But I think we have misunderstood this phrase. People assume enjoy means smiles, laughter, fun, and excitement every step of the way. That’s not real. Never has been, never will be. The man training tirelessly for a marathon isnt laughing throughout their 10 mile run. They aren’t smiling and skipping with every step of the way. But yet…. they are enjoying it. Enjoyment not in the miles run or because it feels good. It’s because it means something. Enjoyment of this type is not found in pleasure but in progress. It’s knowing that all this pain is building towards something. It’s in watching yourself become stronger. It’s in earning that finish line. Most people quit because they expect the journey to be fun.
